Why am I receiving this course?
Florida Massage Therapy Board records indicate that your license will need to be renewed by August 31, 2011. Our courses are approved by the Florida Board of Massage Therapy. Our Florida approved provider number is 50-4007. Elite CME, Inc. is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider. Our NCBTMB approved provider number is 450215-06.

What are the continuing education rules?
You are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education plus and HIV course. You are only be able to complete half of your hours through correspondence/internet. In addition, you may also complete your HIV course through correspondence/internet.

The other 12 hours of massage therapy technique must be completed in a classroom.

If you are NCBTMB certified, you may use all of our courses towards your required hours. Our 6 hour Ethics course includes Standard V and meets the NCBTMB ethics requirement.

What mandatory hours am I required to complete?
For your license renewal you are required to complete 2 hours of Professional Ethics, 2 hours of Prevention of Medical Errors and 2 hours of Florida Laws and Rules. In addition to these required hours, a course in HIV/AIDS is also required for renewal.

How do I complete this course?
This course will provide you with 6 CE hours. Carefully review the information contained in these chapters.

How do I get my test graded and get my certificate of completion?
Either review the material from the course booklet that has been sent to you or download it from the web and then take your final exam. If you pass the test with a score of 75% or better, you will be prompted for your name, address and credit card information. Please have this information available. Once you pass the test, you must provide this information for your certificate of completion to be processed.

Will you report my hours to the state?

Yes, we will report your hours electronically to the state through CE Broker within one business day. You keep your certificate of completion for your records.

  • Recite the basic tenets of the NCBTMB’s Standard V – Roles and Boundaries, listing each point and explaining its significance in an ethical massage therapy practice.
  • Define and provide three examples of a prohibited dual or multiple role relationships.
  • Explain the relationship between patient autonomy and agreements, including the client’s bill of rights, informed consent, and right to refuse treatment.
  • Define beneficence and nonmaleficence, provide an example of each, and explain how they relate to bioethics.
