Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I have to complete the recertification process?
According to the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), once a practitioner becomes nationally certified, recertification is required every four (4) years to maintain certification status.

What are the requirements for recertification?
Individuals who are applying for recertification are required to have a minimum of: 48 recertification credits (These credits may include the six(6) CE hours of Ethics, or Ethics requirement may be submitted in addition to the 48 CE hours).

A mandatory 6 CE hours of course work in Ethics: 2 CE hours must relate to Standard V of the NCBTMB's Standards of Practice. Elite Continuing Education's course meets this requirement.

If the 48 CE hours required for recertification do not include Ethics then an additional 6 CE hours of Ethics are required. The Ethics requirement is based on the NCBTMB's Standard of Practice. Certificants must base their attainment of the mandatory six (6) CE hours from learning experiences that relate to the NCBTMB's Standards of Practice.

To review and/or download a recertification package, please visit NCBTMB at www.ncbtmb.org or click on the button below.
How can Elite Continuing Education help me with the recertification process?
NCBTMB allows you to satisfy the mandatory 48 recertification credits through successful completion of Continuing Professional Education through approved providers. All hours may be completed online.

Will you inform NCBTMB of my completed hours?
No, you will list the course work that you completed and the corresponding hours on your application for recertification. Be sure to keep your certificate in a safe place.
