Corporate Chair & Bodywork and Yoga Self Care for the Massage Therapists

Instructor Gilda Smith

$247.00
14 Hrs

Jobs can wreak havoc on people’s bodies. As massage therapists, we know this all too well. This course explores therapies to give the body a much-needed break, while making you more marketable and proficient in your massage work.

The class starts with yoga and self-care techniques, teaching stretches and exercises that improve stamina, focus the mind, and help prevent injury from overuse. Students can use these exercises and knowledge for their own benefit, and also share them with clients to build relationships.

You will also learn how to use the chair massage as a tool to market yourself and build a client base. After an in-depth anatomy review by your instructor, your work will have more precision and purpose, allowing you to deliver chair massages with results in as little as 10 minutes. She will explain other valuable marketing tactics as well, like identifying your “niche client” and making the best use of email lists.

After this class, you will, as the instructor says, “walk away feeling like you have eyes on your fingertips.” You will gain a better understanding of the kinesiology of the body, so your massage work can be more precise and effective, leading to more clients.

Registration will begin at 8:45am. Class will be from 9:00am until 5:00pm each day with one hour for lunch (on your own) and scheduled breaks.

Mandatory Material: 6-Hour New Jersey Massage Therapy Package
$0.00

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Instructor Joellie Irwin

$247.00
14 Hrs

The demand for Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is rapidly growing. In fact, it’s the third most requested modality in the U.S., according to Massage Magazine, with widespread practice in professional sports and plastic surgery to speed recovery time, as well as anti-aging and weight-loss. Now is the time to add it to your tool belt.

In this course, your experienced instructor will show you how to perform this gentle technique, which alleviates excess fluid and boosts the natural drainage of the lymph from body tissues. She will take you on “the lymph tour”, providing an overview of the lymph system, and a behind-the-scenes look at how a clinic of lymphology operates, including physician referrals and billing paperwork.

You will walk away with the ability to distinguish fat from fluid, and a full-body 50-minute MLD routine that you can add to your service menu tomorrow. You will gain the knowledge to help your clients with the proper compression garments and exercises to keep their lymph systems healthy, and keep them coming back to you.

Therapeutic Reflexology - The Reflexes of the Hand

Instructor Rick Vrenios

$247.00
14 Hrs

Reflexology is a perfect supplemental offering for your clients, and a great alternative therapy to break up the heavy physical demands that massage places on your body throughout the day. So much more than a luxury hand massage, it’s been proven to have a positive impact on the entire body.

In this course, you will learn a system of reflexology that was co-developed by your instructor, Rick Vrenios, and blends subtle energy therapy with hands-on touch therapies. He will explain the science behind this intriguing and in-demand modality, and break down the mechanics into 18 easy-to-remember segments of the hand and their corresponding body areas or processes. By the end of the class, you will know how to perform an hour-long reflexology session, customize the treatment to address certain conditions, and even use it on your own hands for self-care.

The advanced reflexology skills taught in this course are sought-after in many spas and clinics, and students can add it to their menu of services the very next day.

Students should bring a pen and paper for taking notes. A massage table or portable reflexology recliner is optional but strongly recommended.

Registration will begin at 8:45am. Class will be from 9:00am until 5:00pm each day with one hour for lunch (on your own) and scheduled breaks.

Muscle Testing & Treatment for Cervical and Spinal Weakness

Instructor J.Nicholas Tortoriello

$247.00
14 Hrs

Chronic pain is a pain in the neck (pun intended), causing frustration for both the client and the massage therapist trying to resolve it. Massage and stretching, while beneficial, typically offer temporary relief. Muscle testing, on the other hand, can provide instant, lasting results.

In this class, you will learn how to identify and treat muscle weakness in the neck and back to improve strength, range of motion and daily function. This technique addresses the source of the pain by finding the muscle that’s not doing its job and correcting it.

Your instructor will open your eyes to the science behind the muscular system. He’ll not only teach you a real, effective, long-term solution to muscle pain, he’ll also explain how to market it to bring in more clients.

Students only need to bring a table.

Lymphatic Drainage

Instructor Rick Vrenios

$247.00
14 Hrs

An increasingly popular modality, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is an ultra-light touch therapy that is both deeply relaxing and beneficial to the body, reducing waste buildup in the lymph and promoting a healthy immune system. For therapists, it offers the bonus of being gentle on the hands while producing real, often visible, results, particularly in clients who are prone to swelling, recovering from surgery, or undergoing cancer treatment.

This course will teach you the MLD technique developed by Drs. Emil Vodder and Bruno Chikly.

You will explore the lymphatic system’s anatomy and physiology, and learn how and where to apply the correct pressure and rhythm to stimulate its movement. After class, you’ll have the skills to immediately put this technique into practice in your spa or clinic. Plus, you’ll learn quick at-home exercises that you can use for self-care, and teach your clients how to keep their lymph systems healthy between continued sessions with you.

Students should bring a massage table, bolster, top and bottom sheets, massage oil, and a pen and paper for taking notes.

The practices of yoga, meditation and tai chi are powerful tools of leverage and self-care for any massage therapist. By engaging in these practices, you can gain a greater understanding of proper body mechanics and how to preserve your own health and wellness, which can enhance your “effectiveness” as a therapist.

The practice of yoga is growing all over the world. In the U.S. alone, the number of people practicing yoga has nearly doubled in the last four years*. In this course, you will discover yoga’s profound history, and learn yoga postures that increase flexibility and stamina, which are crucial for maintaining proper body mechanics.

Meditation is “absolutely essential” for maintaining psychological health and well-being. It calms the mind, enhances learning capabilities, magnifies concentration powers and improves overall biological efficiency, allowing therapists to comfortably and effectively handle high volumes of massage work.

With his extensive background in martial arts, your instructor will also teach the principles of tai chi, and how to use balance, position and leverage to avoid repetitive motion injury and allow comfortable delivery of substantial pressure to clients.

Want to learn a different approach to relieving pain and improving daily function? Massage and stretching, while beneficial, typically offer temporary relief. Muscle testing, on the other hand, can provide instant, lasting results, and a welcome respite for clients that suffer from chronic pain.

In this class, you will learn how to identify and treat muscle weakness in the hip, knee and ankle to improve strength and range of motion.
