In the United States, it’s been reported that there are over 10 Million physician office visits per year for the shoulder and elbow alone. This combined with the ever-expanding landscape of Direct Access for Physical Therapy, makes it even more imperative for clinicians to have a strong grasp on the Upper Quarter both from a non-surgical rehabilitation standpoint and post-surgical rehabilitation. The Shoulder and Elbow can be daunting to evaluate and treat, but it does not need to be this way. In this course clinicians will have an opportunity to revisit evidence-based examination and evaluation procedures meant to streamline and pinpoint the needs of the individual patient. Using case studies you will focus on manual therapy and exercise progression for both common non-surgical cases and some of the more complex, yet commonly seen post-surgical cases. You will learn why manual therapy cannot be overlooked in the comprehensive treatment of the upper quarter. We’ll dive into manual therapy treatment rationale in a way that is outside of the box and drives movement/exercise strategies. Discussion on tissue loading principles will be the foundation for exercise progression and home exercise progression. Expect to leave this seminar with a refreshed viewpoint of the upper quarter and fully prepared to implement new strategies in the clinic immediately.
